Alternative Pencil and Predictable Chart

Description

The Alternative Pencil and Predictable Chart are a low-tech literacy package that allows students to play around with letters and words. With support, the student will choose words from the predictable chart in different categories and then have a go at spelling the words in an error-free way. This can be done in a group setting or one-to-one. The student picks the letters using ‘yes’ and ‘no’ without the need to type or write and they are given the freedom to pick whichever letters they like to give them the opportunity to scribble just as a young child would with a pencil. Then meaning can be assigned to the letters. This product can be used to assess students at early-emergent level of literacy or it can be used as a learning tool to improve the student’s letter recognition and spelling. The newly designed alternative pencil now comes on a rigid stand with metal ring binders which can be folded up and stored away or transported.
